Two new 2010 venues pass first test

The two newly completed venues for the World Cup in South Africa have passed their first test after matches were played at both stadiums.
The Cape Town stadium hosted a local derby between South African clubs Santos and Ajax Cape Town whilst the Peter Mokaba arena held a four team all day tournament.

Two World Cup stadiums open in South Africa

South Africa’s final plans for the World Cup are beginning after two of the new stadiums will be opened this weekend to the public.
The 70,000 capacity Cape Town stadium and the 45,000 capacity Peter Mokaba stadium in Polakwane will each have a football match played in them in a couple of days to test out [...]

Togo attack will not affect 2010 World Cup

The South Africa World Cup organising committee have announced that the recent attack on Togo at the Africa Nations will not affect the staging of the World Cup in June.
